This interactive session offers experienced Careers Leaders the opportunity to engage directly with Professor Tristram Hooley, co-author of The Careers Leader Handbook.  

Answering questions submitted in advance by Careers Leaders across the country, Tristram will share insights, advice, and reflections on the challenges and opportunities of delivering high-quality careers provision.  

Attendees will also have the chance to ask live questions during the session. 

Learning Outcomes

  1. Gain Expert Insights on Complex Careers Leadership Challenges. Attendees will hear evidence-informed responses to real questions from experienced Careers Leaders, deepening their understanding of strategic and operational issues in careers provision. 
  2. Explore Advanced Applications of the Gatsby Benchmarks. Attendees will learn how to refine and enhance their careers programmes using the revised Gatsby Benchmarks, with a focus on sustainability, whole-school integration, and impact measurement. 
  3. Engage in Peer-Informed Dialogue and Reflective Practice. Attendees will be able to directly ask questions, reflect on their own practice and identify areas for growth.

About the Author

Tristram Hooley is a researcher and writer specialising in career and career guidance. He is Professor of Career Education at the University of Derby and the Inland Norway University. He is also the author of the Adventures in Career Development blog.

Tristram’s work focuses on the intersection of career, education, technology and politics. He believes that career guidance can have a profound and positive influence on the life of individuals and help to make the world a better place. But, to make this happen, governments have to put their hands in their pockets and pay! In the light of this, much of Tristram’s work is spent helping politicians to understand why career and career guidance are so important.

He has published over 100 books, papers and articles on careers and related subjects.
